Реальная история преступного синдиката «Французский связной», свирепствующего в 70-х годах. Подпольная организация была особенно известна международным трафиком героина. Марсель. 1975 год. Молодой Пьер Мишель вместе с женой и детьми переезжает из Меца и назначается судьёй по особо тяжким преступлениям. Он решает разобраться с мафиозной сетью, два десятилетия снабжающей улицы США и всего мира героином под руководством знаковой фигуры криминальной сферы и неприкосновенного крёстного отца безжалостного Гаэтана Зампы.
